The Derby Telegraph

Kate Burnett from the Derby Telegraph arranged to take some photos of the Top Lodge Dancing Dog Team after their successful and busy Crufts. She managed a quick cuddle of Spice before deciding what pictures she would be taking.

And with help from David :-) - the photo session started, with Allan Brown taking photos of the photographer.

All ready for a line up photo with all the dogs
L-R Erin, Kes, Fly, Angus, Hamish, Tipp, Amber and Spice

And now Kath, Karen and Lesley had to choose three action shots/poses to be completed for the photo in harmony!

Kate sorting out an unusual shot with some of the Top Lodge Dancing Dogs' Crufts Trophies.

We will pass on the link to the Derbyshire Telegraph article once published - due sometime over Easter. Thanks for calling round Kate.

Joint Aid supporters of Top Lodge Dancing Dogs

A couple of weeks before DFS Crufts 2010, the Top Lodge Dancing Dog Team received their superb corporate clothing from Joint Aid.Even though there were thousands of dogs at Crufts 2010, the Top Lodge Dancing Dogs showed their presence each time they walked to and from the NEC from the Car Park. One visitor to the show was heard to liken the Team to the "Red Arrows" :-)

Lesley with Angus and Hamish

Karen with Kes, Erin and Fly

And finally, Kath with Tipp, Spice and Amber

Thank you Joint Aid for Dogs - now the Team is ready for any weather!

Joint Aid

Joint Aid for Dogs, Top Lodge Dancing Dog's official supporters, were in Hall 5 at DFS Crufts 2010. The team had arranged to carry out a thirty minute demonstration on the stand on Saturday morning. Joint Aid is becoming so popular with all dog sport enthusiasts that their stand was crowded the entire 4 days. But they made space for the demonstrations of short bursts of Freestyle from the Top Lodge Dancing Dogs.Lesley with Angus demonstrating the "Beardie Bounce" as he jumps with ease.

And a little bit of Beardie maybe in Spice!

The crowd soon filled the aisle to watch how the dogs worked
- they certainly demonstrated the benefits of Joint Aid For Dogs.
Looks like Kath takes the supplement too!!
Karen and Fly showed their expertise at Heelwork.
Fly will be 9 years old on April 1st - she still works and plays like a puppy.
Lesley with Hamish waiting in the wings for their turn.

Fly crawling with ease.

A well deserved round of applause for Karen and Fly.

Angus very keen to move onto the next part of the entertainment.

Thank you Joint Aid for supporting the Top Lodge Dog Team
and for inviting us to appear on the Joint Aid Stand.

The Flexi Stand

Flexi arrived from Germany were present in Hall 3 at Crufts 2010 and once again they invited Kath & Karen to their Stand. There was plenty of room around the Stand for Karen and Kath to attract a good audience when they demonstrated Heelwork To Music with their dogs.

As Erin is under one year old, this was obviously her first Crufts - but she helped Karen demonstrate how to train some of the basic moves very well. She was not phased by the enormous number of dogs around or the massive audience which gathered around Flexi's Stand.
And of course, Spice was there with Kath.

Showing a few moves with a prop - in this case a small stick.

And weaves .........................
Although the space was limited, Karen and Kath managed to include lots in the demonstration.

Spice finishes on top!!

Flexi have relaunched the "Click" - a small retractable lead which is clipped to the dog's collar. Fully retracted the dogs were able to perform jumps, spins etc. in fact all Freestyle moves without being hindered. After the demonstration, one click and the lead expands to walk the dog away under control.
Flexi had asked Karen and Kath to show how easily the Click is operated.

Karen and Fly entertained with both Freestyle and Heelwork To Music moves.
Fly is always happy on the move - she loves her demonstrations.
Fly waving to Karen -
she is also wearing the Flexi Click attached to her collar.
And Karen explains to the gathering public how easily
the click reverts to a short lead.
The dogs performed so well for Karen and Kath -
the Flexi Click certainly did not hinder or distract the dogs.
Amber was also on the Flexi Stand showing some of her Freestyle moves.
Karen and Kath and their dogs would like to thank Flexi for inviting them to entertain on the Stand Crufts 2010.

Samsung at Crufts 2010

Kath and Karen plus their dogs were happy to be invited to demonstrate Heelwork To Music on the Samsung Stand in Hall 3 on Saturday at 3:00pm for an hour. The Samsung Stand was a very busy area at Crufts but once the duo started explaining the sport and completing a few routines along with training from the very basics to more complex moves, the crowds stopped walking by and gathered to watch and learn.

Karen explains what part of the sport Kath & Spice will be demonstrating.

Karen is demonstrating all the official 8 positions allowed in heel work. Karen shows with Fly the change of pace and direction making the heel work very entertaining.

And from above the Stand, Karen and Fly demonstrate moving into position.

WOW - the crowds were so big they started blocking all the aisles around the stand.

Karen finished demonstrating Heelwork To Music with a short routine.
It was great to have the space to do this.

Kath then took to the floor with Spice - after demonstrating basic weaves through legs they then showed weaving arms behind her back.

Spice looking and listening for the next verbal command.

Kath with Spice then carried out a short Freestyle routine which the audience thoroughly enjoyed.

The duo went on the explain how to teach moves safely. Karen lures Spice carefully onto Kath's back until she becomes confident and balanced.

The end result is a happy confident dog able to jump on cue onto the handler's back safely.

Erin - her first time at Crufts. Karen explains how to start a young dog jumping safely, luring her over her legs with food.

And then the audience became involved - with expert guidance, these children are trying to get Amber and Erin to weave through their legs.

The dogs took this all in their stride and the children kept volunteering to join in.

And finally its time to end the entertaining demonstration.
Thank you Samsung for inviting Karen and Kath to entertain on your Stand.
